Description
Summary:The use of synthetic led to environmental issue due to undergo chemical processes in industry manufacturing and even made it expensive material. Therefore, the present study focused on use of natural binder for porous zinc (Zn) anode because its advantages of abundance in raw material, biodegradable, environmental acceptability and cost effectiveness. Bacto-agar and commercial agar powder were selected as natural binder to investigate the characteristics before and after immersed in potassium hydroxide solution with different concentration. The morphology and structural analyses of both agars were examined by scanning electron microscopy techniques. The SEM images shows the difference in morphological structure between porous Zn anode with Bacto-agar binder (Fig.1) and porous Zn anode with commercial agar binder (Fig.2). Bacto-agar binder possess smooth surface compare to commercial agar binder indicated that Zn powder successfully mix with Bacto-agar.
