Managing an effective aged care centre: The case of Hestia Care and Retreat

The growing rate of baby boomers each year shows the tremendous need for the nursing care. It can be said the need for the nursing home is increasing due to the growth of branches of nursing home of the providers. Due to the fact, Hestia Care & Retreat is an alternative care in providing comfort of the elderly by complementing care and retreat. It would be a suitable set where the elderly will find everything under one roof. Their health, leisure, emotion, spiritual, physical, mental and social will be well kept in order for them to be well balance senior citizens. As now, more of the elderly people are aware of their surroundings, active, healthier, independent and fitness oriented. The care centre is fit for well educated, pensioned or retired elderly that fells the need of attention, comfort and company from others. It is an ideal place for them to spend their days while their needs are being focussed. Companionship and guidance are the main element in avoiding them to be lonely and to avoid the ‘guilt’ of children sending their parents to the care centre. In order for the elderly people to continue living in their in their local communities, seamless service provision is essential. Many professions are involved in the support for continued living of the elderly people in local communities. Medical practitioners and care givers are expected to play important roles for high-quality service provision. As fundamental, with advancement in technology, Hestia Care and Retreat is using the latest technology in aged care and giving a new prospect in aged care development. With the trend of the elderly nowadays, technology seems to be essential in the day-to-day operation and also activities of the elderly. Customized care and ‘personal touch’ would also be the other competitive advantage of the care centre. To sustain in the industry, SWOT analysis, Service Positioning and STEEPLE Analysis have been done in orientated to all factors. Through reading, information gathering, feedback from customers, medical practitioners, academicians, experts, suppliers and others related to the industry have been analysed in order to position the company to a level, where its competitive advantage would be hard to imitate or follow. The analysis was done been discussed to reflect on measures or strategies to be implemented to the company. Alternatives and implementation plans are suggested in order for the care centre to operate and start its initial journey in the aged care industry. Value creation to the elderly for successful aging, community and country is vital in the development of aged care in our country.
