Description
Summary:The study was conducted at Sg. Chepuan area, Kuala Betis, Gua Musang which covers 25 km² within latitude 04° 56' 30" to 04° 58’ 30" N and longitude 101° 46' 0" until 101° 48' 30"E, focusing on producing the geological map with scale of 1:25000 using the Arc-Map 10.1 software and determine existence, distribution and potential of economic mineral in stream sediment sample using geochemical mapping technique. Geological mapping was done using the traverse and superficial deposits mapping technique. The geomorphology of the study area is classify as hilly to mountainous with mean of elevation are more than 76 m and the drainage system mostly dendritic in pattern. The lithology of the study area consists of four type of lithology which were identifying as slate, sandstone (lithic wacke), limestone (micrite) and granodiorite. Structural analysis indicated the lineament and joints shows the treading in direction of NE-SW. The bedding analysis is analyse using pi-Gidle which showing direction of 105/80 trending NW-SE. Geochemical analysis was carried out on 20 samples of different locality of stream sediment using Inductively Coupled Plasma-Optical Emission Spectrometer (ICP-OES). Zinc, lead and copper elements concentration was used as the pathfinders to the enriched of economic minerals deposits which is gold. Overlying all this data of the anomaly map produced using kriging technique indicated the potential area of the deposition of gold which are at the central to the western part of the study area.
