Description
Summary:Modeling and simulation for the production of crude palm oil (CPO) was conducted by using SuperPro Designer. The unit procedures for the production of CPO include sterilization, conveying, threshing, digestion, pressing, separation, clarification, purification, drying and storage. The model was sucessfully simulated and analysis reports such as stream and material, economic evaluation and environmental aspect were generated. The oil extraction rate (OER) for the simulated model is up to 17 % along with 21.64 % of oil loss. The CPO yield is about 170 kg/h from 1 MT of fresh fruit bunch (FFB) as input material for the modeling process. RM 14 million is needed as the capital investment for equipments and operating cost while estimated RM 5 million of revenue per annual from this model. The replanting of oil palm lead to the abundant supply of FFB. It has cause overhelming of the palm oil mill in handling FFB which require immediate extraction to avoid oil loss. Hence, this model provide an alternative method in development of palm oil mill which are small scale and low capital investment instead of palm oil mill that require high capital and operating cost.
