Description
Summary:This research was conducted to study and examine the response of one of the wild species of banana which is Musa gracilis towards Fusarium wilt disease. This wild banana was chosen because it has potential in segregation which helps in developing and creating resistance cultivar that able to withstand Fusarium wilt. More, this study was conducted to investigate which is the best media to acclimatize the plantlet of Musa gracilis. There were 4 types of media that have been tested to keep the platelets survive during the acclimatization stage and make the plantlet grow healthy. After 4 weeks of acclimatization, the results indicate there is no significant differences on survival rate of the plant but have slightly significant difference on growth of the plant. Next, the plantlet was tested with Fusarium oxysporum f. sp. cubense for 4 weeks. It reveals the ability of the species to resist and tolerant to Fusarium wilt. Thus, all the result that had been recorded during this experiment, show a lot of things need to be study and some deeper research need to be conducted in order to create and develop new resistant cultivar.
