Plant based protein such as corn are commonly used by farmers but they have detrimental effect to the livestock due to the presence of secondary metabolites known as antinutritional factor (AFNs) can inhibit the absorption of nutrients. The use of fermented corn meal is a methods to reduce or remove those ANFs and the feed were tested on ornamental gourami, Trichogaster trichopterus.
