Effects of dietary palm oil with or without vitamin C on growth performance, abdominal fat pad weight and crude fat content of thigh Meat in Japanese quails (Coturnix cotumix japonica)

This study was carried out to observe effect of dietary palm oil with or without vitamin C on growth performance, relative abdominal fat pad weight and crude fat content of thigh meat in quails. Forty five Japanese quails were reared and fed either the commercial feed without mixture of palm oil and...

Forty five Japanese quails were reared and fed either the commercial feed without mixture of palm oil and vitamin C (Control groups), commercial feed with the mixture of 3% palm oil and vitamin C (Treatment l), or commercial feed with the mixture of 3% palm oil and without vitamin C (Treatment 2). The vitamin C was around 200mg/kg of diet. The feed consumed was recorded daily for 28 days together with the weight of quails. The relative abdominal fat pad weight and the percentage of crude fat percent of the thigh meat of the quails were recorded after 28 days by using the correct methods. This experiment was aimed to examine effect of dietary palm oil with or without vitamin C on growth performance, relative abdominal fat pad weight and crude fat content of thigh meat in quails. The result was same with the predicted outcome that shows the commercial feed with the mixture of 3% palm oil and vitamin C groups (Treatment 1) have higher growth rate, but there was no significant differences in crude fat content (%) of thigh meat and relative abdominal fat pad weight of the quail. 2016 Undergraduate Final Project Report NonPeerReviewed Lailatol Atiqah Yunos (2016) Effects of dietary palm oil with or without vitamin C on growth performance, abdominal fat pad weight and crude fat content of thigh Meat in Japanese quails (Coturnix cotumix japonica).
