Description
Summary:Cultivated Bambusa vulgaris of one to five year old were harvested and studied for their physical properties. The Bambusa vulgaris were obtained in Jell, Kelantan. The culms divided into different internodes that are from internodes 2 to internodes 28. The physical properties that were studied are the moisture content, basic density, swelling and shrinkage. The physical properties vary depending on aged and height along the culms. The moisture content is decreasing from one year to five year old of the bamboo and also decrease from the bottom to the top portion of the culms. However, the basic density is difference from the moisture content where it increase with ages and also increase from the bottom to the top of the culms. The swelling of the Bambusa vulgaris is decrease with the increase of basic density.
