This study was conducted to generate RAPD markers from six selected banana cultivars collected from five different area of Peninsular Malaysia. The annealing temperature used for the RAPD analysis was 36°C. The RAPD fingerprinting of these banana varieties was carried out by three primers; OPA-13, OPB-10, and OPI-16. The RAPD profiles showed wide array of weak and strong DNA bands that could due to the low amount of DNA content in the sample used. RAPD primers produced 23 amplified fragments varying from 220 by to 1500 by in size. 9% of the amplification bands were monomorphic while 91 % were polymorphic bands. Only primers OPB-10 and OPI-16 were able to produce both monomorphic and polymorphic bands. 2014 Undergraduate Final Project Report NonPeerReviewed Norhafizah Ghazali (2014) Genetic analysis of selected banana cultivars in Peninsular Malaysia by using rapd markers.
