Analysis of heavy metal in orthosiphon stamineus using atomic absorption spectroscopy (AAS)

This study presents a picture of occurrence of heavy metal (Pb, Cu, Fe, Cd) in Orthosiphon Stamineus or locally known as Misai Kucing. The Atomic Absorption Spectrometry (AAS) was used to identify the level of heavy metal content in the 0.stamineus from KESEDAR plantation site in Gua Musang. The hea...

Description
Summary:This study presents a picture of occurrence of heavy metal (Pb, Cu, Fe, Cd) in Orthosiphon Stamineus or locally known as Misai Kucing. The Atomic Absorption Spectrometry (AAS) was used to identify the level of heavy metal content in the 0.stamineus from KESEDAR plantation site in Gua Musang. The heavy metal found in the plant were in range of 0.4-24 ppm for Fe, 0.08-1.12 ppm for Cu, 0.019-0.5 ppm for Cd, and 0.03-0.7 ppm for Pb. In conclusion, the amount of the detected heavy metals was below than permissible limit set by World Health Organization (WHO).
