A total of 10 Katjang goats which was infected by ectoparasites were included in the study. The samples were taken randomly using parasitological procedures such as skin scraping method, wet hair combing method and hair plucking method as different ectoparasites perform different characteristics. The overall ectoparasite prevalence showed that all goats were infected by mixed ectoparasites. But as Katjang goat exhibited the characteristic of resistance to ectoparasite infestation, the number of ectoparasite exist on the goat's body surface is few compared to the imported breed. The most common ectoparasites encountered in order of their predominance were lice (87.37%), ticks (11.11%), and mite (1.515%). Sex of goats was significantly associated (p<0.01) with the number of ectoparasites existed on the goat's body surface. The case is similar to the age of the goat and ectoparasites infestations which was significantly different (p<0.05). The body condition score of goats also was significantly associated (p<0.05) with the number of ectoparasites existed on the goat's body surface. Therefore, to reduce high prevalence of ectoparasites and their impacts on the productivity in goats, appropriate and strategic control measure by creating awareness about the importance and control of ectoparasites for farmers is needed. 2013 Undergraduate Final Project Report NonPeerReviewed Noraini Samsudin (2013) Ectoparasite infestation on katjang goat, capra hircus in a village in Jeli.
