Summary:Flood is a serious and common hazard that many countries face regularly. Floods occur periodically in Kota Bharu, Kelantan due to heavy rainfall during the monsoon season. Usually, it occurred during the month of December until February. Kota Bharu has an area of 394km² which is the main capital of Kelantan. It consists of several major districts which were Badang, Kemumin, Panji, Bandar Kota Bharu, Sering, Kota, Kubang Kerian, Pendek, Kubang Kerian, Banggu, Pendek, Limbat, Peringat, Beta, Kadok and Ketereh. The main objective of this study is to integrate the flood hazard map using GIS after identify and characterize the flood zones in Kota Bharu. This study important for identification and mapping flood areas are valuable for the flood management and gives information to society. The data have been collected from field investigations and historical flood areas reports for the study area. Several questions were asked to respondents for identifying the extent of the flood. A GIS software was applied for analyzing the data to demonstrate the differential zones of the flood. The result shows the area that prone to flood based on three possibilities which are low, medium and high. Based on the flood hazard map, it shows that along the Kelantan River possessed high risk of vulnerability to flood to occur compared to other area in Kota Bharu. The total of the high hazard area for flood to occur is 47.140km². Meanwhile, for a medium hazard area is 213.411km² and low hazard area is 134.220km².
