Description
Summary:The polybag experiment was carried out to investigate the influence of crown sucker ages at planting on growth and development of banana Musa acuminate cv. Berangan. The experiment was carried out at ACDA Ko'ol,Lata Janggut. The crown sucker age at planting involve five different ages as indicated by number of leaves (five leaves, six leaves, seven leaves, eight leaves and ten leaves). The plant growth and development parameter recorded were number of leaves, length of leaves, width of leaves, height of pseudostem and girth of pseudostem. The results showed that number, length, width, height of pseudostem and girth of pseudostem were affected by crown sucker ages at planting. The young crown sucker ages at planting showed the same growth as opposed to older ages. Therefore younger crown suckers can be recommended to growers as planting material. This will reduce cost production and subsequently increase farm returns.
