总结:The study area is conducted at Paloh, Gua Musang, Kelantan, Malaysia. The purpose of the research is to produce a geological map of Paloh in l : 25, 000 scale and determine the depositional environment of a sedimentary unit in Paloh area, Gua Musang. Both field and laboratory works are used to collect the data for interpretation of geology and depositional environment. From the interpretation, the geology of the Paloh area consists of four lithological units. The oldest rock unit is metasediment unit, followed by tuff unit, mudstone unit and andesite unit. The age of the rocks is ranged from Middle Permian to Late Triassic. Middle Permian metasediment unit is composed of phyllite, metalimestone, slate and tuff. It is overlain unconformity by tuff unit. Early Triassic tuff unit is made up of tuff, carbonaceous mudstone and volcanic sandstone. The unit is overlain conformity by Middle Triassic mudstone unit. Mudstone unit consists of mudstone and siltstone. The youngest Late Triassic andesite unit is overlain unconformity on mudstone unit. It is composed of andesite lava and tuff. There are strike-slip faults come from NNW-SSE and NNE SSW which strike the study area. It is contributed to the formation of other secondary structures such as joints, cleavages, veins and fold. Depositional environment of the tuff unit is identified by analysing the bed thickness, lithology, sedimentary structures and fossil content of the facies. There are seven facies identified in Paloh. The facies association show the characteristics of both delta and delta front. As the influence of river is larger than Wave and tidal action, thus the depositional environment of the tuff unit is a river dominated delta.
