The first country that presents the documentary evidence for medicinal uses of Orchids is China. Orchids were studied for the medicinal properties because of the chemical composition that have an effect toward the microorganism live in and on human and the surrounding. The present study was carried out to determine antimicrobial and radical scavenging activity of extract prepared from flowers of one native/wild orchid and one hybrid orchid (Orchidaceae family) namely Arundina graminifolia (D.Don) Hochr, and Renanthera Kalsom ‘Red Dragon’ (Renanthera philippinensis X Renanthera storeiei) bought from Jelita Orchid Farm. Antimicrobial and radical scavenging activity of orchid extracts was determined by disk-diffusion agar and DPPH free radical scavenging activity respectively. From the antimicrobial test conducted, extract of wild orchid with chloroform showing the highest inhibition zone than others extracts. The chloroform extract of wild orchid exhibited stronger radical scavenging activity when compared to other orchid extracts. 2019 Undergraduate Final Project Report NonPeerReviewed Dzolkifle, Syazana (2019) Extracts compound of hybrid and native orchid as anti micobial.
