As a result, this study aimed to find out the effects of social media use on academic performance (CGPA) among higher education students in Malaysia. In order to examine social media platforms, a questionnaire based on previous research was adopted. The independent variables include: health addiction, time duration, and connection to engagement, while the dependent variable was the effect of social media on academic performance among Malaysian higher education students. The researcher have used an online survey method with survey questionnaires containing 30 items on a Likert Scale (Strongly Disagree, Disagree, Moderate, Agree and Strongly Agree). The sample of 385 students from public and private universities in Malaysia was selected using simple random and convenience sampling method. Data has been collected and analyzed via SPSS 24 version. The response rate was 100%. Majority respondents were female (71.3%), Malay (75.4%), Mean Age of respondent were 19-23 years old (72.2%), Public Universities were rate at (83%) and highest level education which is degree were rate at (66.5%). The Pearson’s correlation coefficients is for independent variables to determine the correlation with student’s academic performance.
