Summary:Eco-friendly packaging is defined as packaging that is easily recycled and made from materials that have a low impact on the use of energy or natural resources. Eco-friendly packaging or also referred sustainable packaging plays an important role in the development of the logistic industry in Malaysia. The development of eco-friendly packaging contributes to the efficient of manufacturing process which is reducing the use of new material and minimizing the negative impact of business on the environment. The correct arrangement to solve this problem is to review the factors that can influence the intention consumers to buy and use eco-friendly packaging in their daily life. In this study, a conceptual model consisting of different variables such as social influence, environmental concern, willingness to pay and attitude has been studied which affects the intention to buy eco-friendly packaging among young consumer in Malaysia. The researcher has chosen the sample size is 350 consumers with target group which is young consumer in Malaysia. This quantitative research approach has been conducted by selected the sample by choosing the simple random sampling technique. The questionnaire has been distributed through google form and 353 respondents participated in answering the questionnaire of this study. The data obtained was analyzed using Statistical Package for the Social Science (SPSS) and Partial least squares (PLS) software. Based on the data collected from the questionnaire survey, different data analysis methods such as descriptive analysis, reliability and Pearson correlation, assessment of the measurement model, assessment of the structural model, assessment of the mediating and hypothesis testing were conducted. In this study, five hypothesis was conducted, and the finding indicates, all variables has a positive significant toward the intention to buy eco-friendly packaging. The used of eco-friendly packaging among consumer can protect the environment and also minimize the used of new materials. Other than that, through this study, this can help academic to review as a reference in conducted the future research that specialize to study the intention to buy eco-friendly packaging among consumer.
