Description
Summary:The objective of this research is to study the effect of technology acceptance, human and organization resource, and government role variables using mediator innovation variable and the core variables of SD among SME in Malaysia. Definition of SD as an accepted concept by the global community refers to upholding of social, economic and environmental as the new and extended performance values to set a new measurement standard with the pure intention to preserve the future generations. SD is inclusive and now a demand by the world society but still remains an issue and lacks SME participation. SD is no longer an option but business-related. Innovation is acknowledged as the potential solution for effective achievement of sustainable development and is acknowledge by United Nations and is also included in the Malaysian SME master plan. SMEs are generally limited by resources but with the proper use of resources they can contribute to increasing innovation in sustainable development and contributing to the business opportunities. Innovation as mediator to sustainable development as an extended performance measurement standard in Malaysian SME setting is new to framework development and study. Resource-Based View (RBV) and Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) are the chosen, correct and relevant theories to the framework study with variables technology acceptance and resources. Quantitative study method was used to analyze the proposed study objectives. 216 responses were received for data analysis using the SMART PLS V3.0 software. The analyzed data results were used to answer all the research questions to fulfill the study research objectives. The novelty of this study started from the data results that acknowledge both the study theory employed in the framework was presumed correct. The SMEs in Malaysia responded through the research that human resource is the most important study variable. The sub-variable of human resource by importance were training, explicit and tacit knowledge. Innovation as the mediator was the second most important study variable, followed by organizational resource and the last was technology acceptance. The study highlighted that innovation did not mediate between government role and SD. Philosophically government role through sub variable of policy, supply chain and incentives should be the greatest resource and asset for SME but these philosophical objectives were not realized. The study result also concluded euphorically that SME agrees with SD and the sub constructs importance starts with economy, followed by social, and last environment. SME concluded that economy, social, and environment, associated with SD could be used as the extended performance measurement in the preparation of the new standard
