Summary: | Clinical Practice Guidelines (CPG) Management of Tuberculosis (3rd edition) provides evidence-based guidance to standardise the management of tuberculosis (TB) at all levels of health care setting in Malaysia. Having adequate knowledge in the management of the disease is a prerequisite in ensuring quality care. This study aimed to investigate the level of knowledge of this CPG among medical officers and specialists in public hospitals as well as health clinics in Selangor state of Malaysia. Of the total 465 respondents only 28% demonstrate good level of knowledge based on the 40 test questions. However, the proportion of doctors showing good level of CPG knowledge increased to 74.9% for 'must know" questions. Higher percentage of doctors with good knowledge of tuberculosis was observed among doctors at specialist level and those who worked in health clinics. Doctors who were involved in managing TB patients and attended TB training had better level of knowledge. © 2020, Akademi Sains Malaysia. |
