Description
Summary:The ability to navigate in a virtual environment is crucial in the search for information. Without a proper navigational scheme and well designed searching or browsing capabilities, the information that is abundantly available in the Internet cannot not be effectively retrieved, disseminated or used by users. This paper briefly discusses how usability testing can be used to provide general guidelines for web designers to develop navigational schemes and searching or browsing systems that will help people navigate the virtual world. This paper also provides results of a study undertaken to test a new website developed by the University of Malaya Library, based on the usability test.
