Research Malaysia Histopathology department involved a good practice and skills in preparing a biological specimen for microscopic studies which majority contribute to the final diagnosis. However, the present of artefacts interfere with adequate diagnosis which are mostly subject to human and materials error. The study aimed to rule out the artefacts observed in original Hematoxylin and Eosin slides and deeper section slides. A cross-sectional study was conducted on 39 random samples from September 2016 until May 2017 in Histology Department of Faculty of Medicine UiTM Sungai Buloh. Permissions were obtained to access the Specimen Management System (SMS) in order to trace cases with deeper section and the slides were taken from the slides storage for artefacts identification. The study showed 37 (95%) slides present of artefacts whereas 2 (5%) slides were absent of artefacts out of 3 total original H&E slides. A total of 76 slides of deeper section, there were 54 (71%) slides were identified positive artefacts while 22 (29%) slides with negative artefacts. Conclusion, the artefacts found in both original H&E and deeper section slides were high compared to absent of artefact. Meaning that requesting deeper section only escape small amount of artefact as there were still more than half of the slides contain artefacts. 2017-12 Student Project NonPeerReviewed text en https://ir.uitm.edu.my/id/eprint/90879/1/90879.pdf Artefacts found in original H&E slide and deeper section slide case from September 2016 to May 2017 in Faculty of Medicine UiTM Sg.
