This course is designed to bring together several specialized disciplines within the surface embellishment area of design and with a hands-on approach that will introduce students to a wide range of skills including embroidery, print for fashion textiles, dyeing and embellishment and mixed media. Various techniques produce in the form of samples such as the decorative effects of tension on fabrics, appliqué and fabric manipulation, including pleating & gathering and cutting & patching fabrics. Studio work includes a visual culture lecture program and the opportunity to develop digital design skills.
