Description
Summary:The cell is a remarkable entity, constantly interacting with its environment to carry out vital biological processes. One fascinating aspect of cellular biology lies in the intricate landscape of the cell surface, where a diverse array of molecules orchestrates interactions and communication. Among these molecules, glycan structures play a crucial role in cell recognition, adhesion, and signaling. The glycan forest magine a dense forest, with towering trees and lush vegetation, teeming with life. Now, visualize the surface of a cell, covered with a complex network of glycan structures. Just as the forest provides shelter, nourishment, and a habitat for countless organisms, the glycans on the cell surface create a microenvironment that facilitates essential cellular processes (Figure 1).
