Description
Summary:The two week school experience provides the student teacher with an opportunity to be involved in an actual classroom situation. The student teacher is assigned to a classroom cooperating teacher (mentor) for two consecutive weeks. With the guidance of the mentor, the student teacher will observe the lessons taught by the mentor and possibly plan and assist the mentor in class. At the end of the school experience, the student teacher will identify their strengths and weaknesses by completing four different Classroom Observation Worksheets and report in consultation with their mentor and UiTM class teacher. Course components include a School Orientation Programme Report, four Classroom Observation Worksheets, a group presentation and also a Mentor’s Report. Ultimately, upon completion of the program, students will have adequate experience for their future teaching practicum in Part 7. The central objective of this field experience is to provide the student teacher and the UiTM field supervisor sufficient evidence to assess the student teachers’ response towards school, teachers and students. It also serves to assess their knowledge as well as required professional competencies towards becoming teachers.
