Summary: | This course explores international relations in Southeast Asia, applying both theoretical and historical perspectives to analyze history and current events. Particular attention will be given to how Southeast Asian countries as respond to the world politics and the global political economy, terrorism, traditional security arrangements, trade conflicts, territorial disputes and the foreign policies of major countries in Southeast Asia. The course will also examine the role of ASEAN in various levels of interactions covering relations among member states, ASEAN and other non-ASEAN regional actors and ASEAN with the rest of the world. Finally, the ongoing debate on the challenges facing ASEAN and its future role and prospects within the region and internationally will also be analyzed. |
