Summary:Tourism industry is considering a large contributor other than manufacturing sector to Malaysia’s' economy. The homestay program is a tourism product that has been given special emphasis by the government through the Ministry of Tourism. This link to the potential of homestay program to provide additional income and employment which cause the number of homestay providers to increase. It is mentioned in the 9th Malaysia Plan (2006- 2010) too that one of the focus by government is on community development and rural tourism. So, the homestay program matched the plan very well. However, as most well informed, tourism development in an area may bring impacts in many aspects. Therefore, the main objective of this study is to explore the residents' quality of life in Kampung Parit Penghulu based on the development of homestay in these villages which focused on three main components; economy, social and environmental. A total of 80 samples were taken from the residents of Kampung Parit Penghulu which is one of the popular homestays in Melaka and the data was processed and analyzed using the Statistical Package for Social Science (SPSS). The growth of the homestay program has provided huge opportunities for the human development. These include positive impacts to the economy development, social development, as well as increase the quality of life among participants in the homestay program.
