Description
Summary:The Design Thesis courses represent the culmination of each student’s research in a design project structured in two consecutive semesters. In semester 3, Design Thesis I gives students the opportunity to pursue a design project of their choice on a chosen site, subjected to the approval of a vetting committee. Students are encouraged to attempt a real-life project based on actual needs. The project shall enable the students to develop their skills in architectural design to a professional level and be able to integrate the knowledge acquired from previous semesters. This course is a follow up from the Architectural Research course, ARK805 whereby each student would have the knowledge on how to develop a design thesis proposal from a synthesis of research and design inquiries. Through independent research, individual supervisions and panel review processes, students will analyse/appraise contextual issues, conduct precedent studies, develop their design thesis proposal, formulate the design brief and eventually produce a creative and responsive architectural design scheme.
