Summary:In our today culture, Malaysian are busy with a new development project and concentrating in develop a new cities. Today modern life has been decreased an aesthetic value of heritage building. However, heritage building conservation in Malaysia still need an extra concerned from parties involved. Public should have a basic knowledge in a way to play a main role as Malaysian in maintaining and conserve the heritage buildings for future generation. In this research, a survey has been conduct towards public about their perception on heritage building conservation. A researcher will find out whether Malaysian aware or not on heritage building conservation. Aim of this research is to study the public perception on heritage building conservation in Kuala Lumpur towards improving the conservation effort in Malaysia. First objective of this research is to identify the significance of heritage building in conservation in Malaysia. The second objective is to observe and analyze the public perception on the heritage building conservation in Kuala Lumpur. The third objective is to make recommendations towards improving public perception on the heritage building conservation. In order to obtain the data, a survey was conduct in a heritage building in Kuala Lumpur The heritage building is not specify but the researcher has distributed a questionnaire on heritage building in Merdeka Square. The public in this research consists of the workers in the heritage building and any public who used and visit heritage building. Based on the analysis data, it is found that public today do not understand the concept on the heritage building conservation but on the other side, they understand the value and appreciate the significant of heritage building conservation. Recommendation was also presented to further improve future study on this area. Hopefully from the recommendations suggested can help to improved public perception on the heritage building conservation.
