Magnetic lamp / Nur Syahirah Md Rahim … [et al.]

This study attempts to produce a magnetic lamp. Light, like all other physical force has electric and magnetic effect. Until now it was thought that the magnetic properties of light were so weak and that they would be useless in any practical application. The magnetic lamp that we want to produce is...

Until now it was thought that the magnetic properties of light were so weak and that they would be useless in any practical application. The magnetic lamp that we want to produce is not using electrical energy, but we are using magnetic force. Magnets have enough strength to generate a strong electric effect, other than that, all about optical rectification, where light and electric field causes the positive and negative charge of material to be forcibly tugged apart, causing an electric effect. This product can be a multipurpose product, besides using this product during blackout; we also can use this product as a table lamp. It can also be a decorative light. The objective of this study is to produce a product are to help people especially those who live in rural areas with frequent blackout problems. It also can help to reduce dangerous situation, for example during blackout they usually use candles to get the light to do their work at night which has its risks. This product also has pros and cons. the pros is the light is in a bulb shape, mobile and saves electricity and is inexpensive. The cons are the light may become weak because of the energy of the magnet; material used to assemble this product are bulb, cooler pad, magnet, wire and other materials to decorate the lamp such as the recycled things like plastic bottle, cardboard and so on. The processes involved to make this product are: firstly, we must have all the materials that we need especially the bulb and magnet. There are many types of bulbs that we can use such as white, orange, and red bulb. Next, we use the cooler pad and magnet with the small magnet at the fan of the cooler pad with another magnet with the same charge as the one on the cooler pad. Then, we used the negative and positive wire to connect the bulb, after that, the big magnet to the cooler pad that will make the fan move and it will produce magnetic energy that will lighten the bulb. Finally, we can decorate it as we want and it is ready for use.
