Summary:The purpose of this study is hoped to give contribution to the reader that they can know the structure of the song in terms of hook and melody structure. This research may be valuable for those who want to gain more knowledge in order to understand the hook and the melody structured used in the song. The primary source of the research would be from the interviews and analyzing the score sheet of the song. The chapter will explain first about the background of ‘If I Ain’t Got You’, and a brief history of the song and the singer. Besides, the melody used and characteristic of rhythm shall be explain in the background of the song. This will be followed by a discussion on their ability to produce valid results, meeting the aims and objectives set by discussion. The chapter then goes on for discussions of the sampling size and sampling strategy applied by the author, and the data analysis methods which has been used. It concludes with a brief discussion on the ethical considerations and limitations posed by research methodology. There are two sources on this study. The first source was the score sheet of ‘If I Ain’t Got You’. Another sources was the books, internet and anything that related to the song or composition. The theories used are theories of literature, theory of deconstruction and theory of ambiguity. The findings shows the song analysis on the music score which divided into sections by sections on the purpose of the study.
