Summary:This paper aims to investigate various types of syncopated rhythms that exists and how it is put together into funk music composition. The different types of interesting rhythmic patterns that incite listeners to move with the groove of the music. The purpose of this research is as a contribution of knowledge for other composers that needs time to know and familiarize in utilizing syncopated rhythms. The objectives of this research are to ascertain the types of syncopated rhythms used by Maurice White, the lead singer of the renowned band Earth, Wind and Fire and how it has been innovatively used in the song entitled “In the Stone”.
