Summary:Old shop house is one of the country's history that is very valuable. The effects of historical relics such as old shop house can be used as reference material for future generations. Old buildings can give us a sense of impressed and makes us want to know more about the people and culture that produced it. The effects of changes in the facade of the building is also an issue that is rarely highlighted as many think local communities are not aware of the benefits of a monument, or a historic building located in the area Accordingly, this paper discusses the façade deterioration of the old shop houses and architecture style that are used in old shop houses at Ipoh. The facade deterioration have a major impact on the performance and condition of the building, stabilization and structural features of the building. The approach used in this study is the observation in the study area and also used questionnaires to identify issues and problems that exist in the study area.. Therefore, based on these conditions, the study of the facade of the building and the role of conservation measures put forward and give the best recommendation in solving the problem because it gives visual impact to the formation of the image of a city.
