To be more specific, the current amendments towards the Act recently gave a great impact towards the society at large, especially the press as well as to the nation. To pursue this study, extensive research has been made to the provisions specified in the Act. The research paper outlines our research proposal which consists of the general layout in conducting our research. It also comprises of the Western and Islamic perspectives pertaining to the freedom of the press. Furthermore, the historical elements are also discussed to give a clear picture on the existence of the current laws. The comparisons between the current laws which have been amended and the previous laws have been reviewed critically. From here, we discovered the significance of having the amended provisions under the Act. Not only that, comparisons are also made between the laws in other countries like the United Kingdom and Singapore in order to provide suggestions pertaining the enforcement of the freedom.
