Exploring the material and manufacturing process to produce design especially furniture design, I found that we have the flexibility in designing products. Understand the process, enjoy it. We will get why designing is fun. For instance, Screw-pine Leaves Stool (SL Stool) designed in 2017, is an experimental piece. It is made of Screw-pine Leaves as known as daun mengkuang in Malay. Screw-pine leaves is widely used in handicraft industry not only in Malaysia also, several other countries in Southeast Asia. The usability of screw-pine leaves as weaving material for necessity product is heritage. However, as a young and active generation weaving technique is daunting my patience. Therefore, by using the same material, I put to the test the usability of screw-pine leaves is various such as furnishing material (as shows in SL Stool; the seat surface) and a different look – no weaving. Morale of the study, during the process, be comfortable would bring a clear vision and eventually a better result. In sha Allah. |
