Summary:Our country is heading towards an age ingnation in just a few decades. Elderly care services are on demand due to an increase population of those aged 65 years and above. The needs and requirements of the elderly and people with disabilities (E&D) need to be well-provided with ergonomic design approach as it could improve the quality life of the elderly as they are going to live healthily and embrace aging. With poor ergonomics approach, the elderly may suffer from health consequences such as back injuries, headaches, migraines and musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs). The aim of this research is to study the furniture ergonomics for elderly care centre that give a big impact in the quality life of the elderly. This research is based on data obtained from a survey questionnaire provided on what are the effects of the furniture ergonomics towards the quality life of the elderly and how does the environment that apply furniture ergonomics assist into improving the quality life of the elderly. On-site observation was carried out through this study in order to investigate the furniture ergonomics for elderly care centre. The significance of this study is to earn all information that will be a great benefit which will contribute to the society and related people such as residents (elderly), staffs and nurses, architects, investors and visitors for improvements. Thus, ergonomics design approach is needed to ensure the elderly enjoy their golden life to the fullest.
