Summary:Human activities generate wastes that are often discarded as they measured as worthless. The most common method of waste disposal is to first collect waste from the source and then buried in the landfill. In Malaysia, the dispose of waste is under the legislation of Environmental Quality Act, 1974. The purposes of this study are to make a comparison of carbon produced before and after the recycling initiative at Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM), to evaluate the effectiveness of recycling at UiTM in term of cost and pollution reduction and to propose improvement measures on recycling initiative at UiTM. UiTM has been chosen to perfom this study and the students and staffs of UiTM have been surveyed for on the attitude, satisfaction and propose measure towards recycling through questionnaire. From the study, Pejabat Pengurusan Fasiliti of UiTM is related in performing their responsibilities on managing waste collection system in UiTM. The effectiveness of recycling at UiTM in term of cost and pollution shows a positive result where it is tend to reduce. The recommendations have been made to enhance the effectiveness of current recycling initiative facilities.
