Questionnaires developed by the researcher were distributed to 32 students of Year 5 Melur and 4 English Year 5 teachers of Sekolah Kebangsaan Pusat Dungun. The students were of an intermediate class. The following were the major findings of the study : i. The students and teachers liked using pictures in their learning and teaching activities. ii.Most of the teachers agreed that their students performance, motivation and interests in learning English improved when they used pictures in their lesson. Due to this, the rate of students' participation in the classroom was very good. iii.All teachers indicated positively to their success in producing good lessons to their students by using pictures. iv.There was a different rate of performance achieved by the two groups. The experimental group performed better compared to the controlled group as they had understood the lesson well compared to the other. The findings suggested that the teachers should vary their teaching methods and the use of pictures, while the school administration should take a good action to encourage the teachers to use pictures in teaching the English language.
