Summary:Fables stories are one of the reading materials that have been suggested as an effective tool, which can help to develop reading skills. The aim of this study is to confirm that by using the fables stories among the primary schools students can develop their reading skills and within the meantime as a method to arouse the students’ interest in reading English materials. Therefore, this study mainly focuses on the Year 4 students, it is because the reading skills should be developed at the early years, so they can inculcate the reading habit until their highest level of education. Throughout the investigation, it is clear that fables as an effective tool that can be manipulated to develop the primary school students’ reading skill in classroom. They feel more confident to read the English materials and can avoid their shyness in reading aloud in the classroom. Finally, by using fables stories can promote the students’ proficiency in English.
