The modernization of medical technology from all over the world has forced Malaysia to catch up with other country step by step. Furthermore, unknown diseases have been detected with sickness that we have lack knowledge about it. Refurbishment work is the answer to old hospital building where they decide to upgrade their standard to achieve standard and to comply patients need, and they need to remain operation when the works was done. Hospital building operates 24/7; the building would not stop their operation for the construction work. From this, the management needs to plan before the construction begun when they need to do and how will they overcome this problems. Understanding the process, a lot of things can be identify that are, how well the management handle it, what the safety measurement that have been taken, how conscious they realize the safety issues when they do the work at hospital compound. The aim of the study is to identify the effects of the refurbishment works when the refurbishment had been done to the hospital building users. By knowing the type of refurbishment, then can identify the implication of the process and requirement in the refurbishing operation. Thus, interview with the management involve understanding the operation and questionnaire distributed to the staff and public to achieve the first objective. At the end of this dissertation, the general effect can be identifying, the type of refurbishment have known, and the process and requirement have been studied for the refurbishing operation. From there, solution of the problems that has arisen during the refurbishing is being recommended based on the data analysis. The recommendations are barrier for sound reduction, improvement on safety aspect and educate the public. This is to reduce risk of exposure to the workers and public at the hospital building.
