It was estimated that at least a few hundred women and children were burned and died of suffocation inside the Ghist Cave and about 2,000 people including the followers of Liu Shanbang were killed in around “Mau San”. Bau District Office is the nerve centre of the administration of the District in Bau Town. The first District Officer was appointed in 1931 and the current District Officer is the 39th, Puan Anelia Ak Siam. The District Officer previously are the British until the seventieth in the 1958. In 1959, the successors was by the local. The District Officer has a wide statutory powers, to enable him to function effectively. The District Officer is also the Chairman of the Bau District Council, which provides municipal services. He was automatically as the Chairman of the Bau District Council and served under “Local Authorities Ordinance 1996” Section 12(2) and (3) whereby he is responsible for chairing a meeting of the Standing Committee Assembly.
