Abstrak Kajian ini adalah mengenai konsep sastera Islam menurut Kassim Ahmad. Kassim telah memulakan konsep sastera Islam berdasarkan hujahnya ke atas pendapat Shahnon Ahmad, melalui perbahasan di Dewan Kesenian dalam beberapa siri. Melalui konsep yang ditunjukkan, jelas Kassim mengetengahkan liberalisme dalam pemahamannya mengenai Islam. Terdapat beberapa tafsiran ayat-ayat al-Quran yang ditafsirkan mengikut pemahamannya yang sangat bertentangan dengan kaedah pentafsiran quran dalam menetapkan konsep sastera Islam. Walaupun begitu, kajian ini juga menonjolkan kehebatan Kassim dalam penulisan sambil menerangkan hujahnya terhadap Shahnon. Perbahasan ilmiah ini juga telah menarik para sarjana lain di Malaysia untuk melontarkan idea mereka, maka isu ini menjadi isu hangat dan penting pada masa itu, walaupun persoalan mengenai 'sastera Islam' sebenarnya telah dibangkitkan oleh tokoh-tokoh sebelumnya. Kassim dan Shahnon telah berjaya menjadikan 'sastera Islam' sebagai tajuk penting untuk dibahaskan. Lebih-lebih lagi, Islamisasi menjadi 'penting' kerana kempen penerapan nilai-nilai Islam oleh pemerintah, dan faktor permulaan 'Revolusi Islam Iran'. Sekiranya proses 'Islamisasi' dilaksanakan dalam bidang pendidikan, ekonomi, undang-undang dan pengurusan, maka bidang sastera yang bergantung pada khayalan juga dapat 'Islamisasi'. Kajian ini pada tahap tertentu menjawab persoalan sastera Islam atau adakah proses 'Islamisasi' boleh dilaksanakan dalam bidang sastera? Kata Kunci: Konsep sastera Islam, karya, penulisan, pemikiran, kepercayaan, idea, kritikan Abstract This study is about the concept of Islamic literature according to Kassim Ahmad. Kassim has embarked on a concept of Islamic literature based on his argument over the concept of Islamic literature by Shahnon Ahmad, through the debate in the Arts Council in several series. Through the concept shown, clearly Kassim highlighted liberalism in his understanding of Islam. There are some interpretations of Quranic verses which are interpreted according to his understanding which is quite contrary to the method of interpretation of the quran in setting the concept of Islamic literature. Nevertheless, this study also highlighted Kassim's greatness in writing while deffending his arguments against Shahnon. This scholarly debate has also attracted other scholars in Malaysia to cast their ideas, then this issue became hot and important issue at that time, although the question of 'Islamic literature' has actually been raised by previous figures. Kassim and Shahnon have succeeded in making 'Islamic literature' an important title to debate. What is more, Islamization is becoming 'important' because of the campaign of applying the value of Islamic values by the government, and the factor onset of 'Islamic Revolution of Iran'. If the 'Islamization' process is implemented in the field of education, economy, law and management, then is the literature field that depends on delusions can also be 'Islamized'. This study some extent answering Islamic literary issues or is it possible that the 'Islamization' process is implemented in the field of literature?
