This study describes the position of Islamic literature among modern literature school of thoughts. The possibility of using the word mazhab is not popular among us because in producing literary works more often used as al-Itajah (tendency) or other terms other than mazhab. It is because mazhab is always associated with the field of fiqh or tawhid. But, in this topic, it gives the meaning of thought as holding a specific belief or intellectual flow followed by one group that produces literary work representing its faith. Every movement that adamant to their belief has a very close relationship with human philosophy and ideology. The writer tries to explain the essence and content of each movement and school of thought that influences the flow of thought in the process of making literary work, then compares with the Islamic literature school of thought so that it becomes a measuring tool for examining artwork. Perhaps this study is somewhat less popular among some of the litterateurs as its existence is art and it is quite difficult to get involved in any artwork in which the author belongs to the same school of thought. Hence, some litterateurs do not recognize the existence of literature movement such as Taha Husayn who assumed that an author who is belonged to a certain school of thought would have been restricted in making literary works. However, it is undeniable that each author has a personal tendency that affects the process of work either through the reading, education system, involvement in any political or community movement or supports certain beliefs and ideologies. In this limited opportunity, the writer will discuss about the ideology and various school of thoughts briefly and holistically followed by solutions or viewpoints from Islamic literature school.
