Description
Summary:The debate between modernity and postmodernity have been discussed since before the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic. Until now, it has not been resolved with each camp claiming to be the victor of the debate and therefore marks the end of each other’s theoretical projects. With the advent of the pandemic, it is timely to revisit the debate and perhaps to come to a conclusive point that can settle the tension between the two theoretical paradigms. What is more, it is also hoped that the conclusive point can pave the way for a new theoretical paradigm that is more comprehensive and efficient in facing the post-COVID world. The article put forward such arguments as it is noticed that the existing dichotomy between the two theoretical frameworks could no longer sustain its status-quo. This is because the abruptions of confusions amongst the multitude - due to the disruptions brought by the virus - require a turning point in viewing this binary opposition. The article then suggests for revisions to be made by benefitting from the best of both of these dominant theoretical paradigms and by omitting those available concepts that are no longer effective to be adopted in facing the pandemic.
