Summary:This study attempts to highlight a number of challenges in the area of teaching and learning of Classical Arabic Poetry (Arab Jahili) among non-native speaker in Malaysia. This study begins with an introduction to Arabic Classical Poetry. It is followed by a discussion on the traditional and modern approaches in the teaching and learning of Classical Arabic Poetry in Malaysia. A pre and post-test were run to discover the effectiveness in learning Classical Arabic Poetry through mobile learning. The tests were conducted at the International Islamic University Malaysia, with 50 respondents from students who have registered for the Arabic poetry course at the Department of Arabic Language and Literature. The result of the tests was very positive and encouraging, and indicates a very promising potential for mobile learning in an attempt to improve the learning experience and understanding of students in the Classical Arabic Poetry course.
