Description
Summary:Waqf as an institution that played a significant role in meeting the socio-economic needs of Muslim societies throughout Islamic history has now experience low contribution due to cumbersome procedures. Lack of transparency has been a huge problem in waqf administration. Recently, the incorporation of digital technology into Islamic finance has created new solutions for many waqf stakeholders. An innovative technology known as Blockchain has given a hope to activate and revive the idle waqf which may lead to enhance its income and reflect on well-being of the populations. While studies on blockchain have gained a relative pace over the recent years, the literature on this topic does not report adequate research cases on blockchain adoption behavior in waqf administration. This paper aims to propose a framework consistent with the prior literature to show the mediating effect of trust on the relationship between adoption of blockchain in waqf management and its determinants. To achieve this, we reviewed the literature regarding blockchain, waqf, social network as well as Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology (UTAUT) to propose a framework with trust as a mediating variable.
