In response to the Malaysian government’s directive on strict adherence to protocols such as the Movement Control Order (MCO) and social distancing, the higher education sector has enforced the Emergency Remote Teaching and Learning (ERTL) system to replace face-to-face (physical) classes. The swift transition from face-to-face instruction to remote learning is not devoid of challenges. Hence, a new education pathway is called for. As such, this study focuses on the impact of ERTL during the COVID-19 pandemic on International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM) students. The objectives of the study are (a) to determine students’ level of knowledge, perception, attitude, and behavior towards ERTL and (b) to ascertain the predictors of behavior towards ERTL. This study employed a quantitative research design with a survey method. An online questionnaire was used as the research instrument for data collection using the networking sampling procedure. A total of 125 students participated in the study. The findings revealed that IIUM students have a basic knowledge of ERTL, they perceive ERTL to be necessary in terms of its usefulness, and they exhibit a positive attitude and behavior towards it. Knowledge of ERTL and also perception and attitude towards ERTL are the predictors of behavior in ERTL.
