Many also work as professionals in both the government and private sectors. There are several public figures particularly in the entertainment industry as well as in the da’wah efforts. Based on an official interview with a source from the Muslim Welfare Organization Malaysia (or Pertubuhan Kebajikan Islam Malaysia – PERKIM in Bahasa Malaysia), approximately fifty to sixty percent of the Chinese who converted to Islam and registered with PERKIM are in the middle-income category, while only less than fifteen percent are considered as high-income category.
