Transpelvic Magnetic Stimulation (TPMS) is useful in women who are not able to effectively contract their pelvic floor muscle. Pulsed Magnetic Technology (Extracorporeal Magnetic Innervations (ExMI) ) has been developed for stimulation of pelvic floor muscle and approved by the US Food and Drug Association (FDA) in 1998. It generates pulsed magnetic fields which induces an electrical depolarization of the nerves within the pelvic floor thus causing the pelvic floor muscle to contract.
