Summary: | This paper offers an attempt to integrate and Islamicise acquire knowledge in the knowledge management of enterprises through the Ulū al-Albāb approach. The Ulū al-Albāb approach emphasises on integrating the acquired knowledge by Islamicising it for the sake of pleasing Allah (mardhat Allah) via the roles as servant (‘ibād al-Rahmān) and vicegerent of Allah (khālifah Allah fi al-ard). The framework of the study integrates the acquired human knowledge from the knowledge-based view (KBV) with Islamicisation of Ulū al-Albāb approach as basis to sustain knowledge assets growth of the Islamically integrated knowledge-based view of social enterprises. This framework contributes the enhanced spirituality (al ruhiyyah) dimension into KBV framework to sustain intellectual contribution from social entrepreneurs and other stakeholders. An opinion survey with social entrepreneurs argued that the existing acquired knowledge on managing the organizations and human knowledge is based on conventional rationality approach. However, when the rationality approach is integrated with the Islamically and spiritually enhanced knowledge through the Ulū al-Albāb approach, the framework can be applied into the existing KBV integrative framework. Nevertheless, the existing KBV framework can be revised to fit the Ulū al-Albāb approach for the sustainability of social enterprises in maximizing the social ends. Indeed, social entrepreneurs can utilize the Ulū al-Albāb approach into its social enterprises’ communities and other social network. |
