Description
Summary:A leaky-wave array antenna based on the composite right/left-handed (CRLH) transmission line (TL) model is presented. The array, which consists of 3 elements arranged in a 3x1 configuration had a footprint of 73.2 x 23.8 mm. Investigation of the unit cell that makes up the single point sources of the array and the current distribution surround the array, shows that it is a leaky-wave structure between 2 GHz to 3.1 GHz. The array structure, which resonated at 4 frequencies, 1.9, 2.15, 3.16 and 4.32 GHz, was able to increase the gain of the CRLH TL based antenna at all the frequencies by an average of 2 dB at each of the resonant frequency.
